Ricky Guerra is an associate in the Business Litigation and the Industrial and Consumer Product Liability Practice Groups in the Philadelphia office of Lavin O’Neil Ricci Cedrone & DiSipio. He concentrates his practice on the automotive, medical and pharmaceutical industries as well as professional liability and automotive franchise litigation.
Mr. Guerra manages complex product liability, professional liability and commercial matters. He serves as local counsel for pharmaceutical companies conducting business in New Jersey. In 2007, he was intimately involved with a mold exposure case of national implications which resulted in a defense verdict. His pre-trial Frye motions successfully excluded a substantial portion of plaintiffs’ expert testimony. In 2008, he served as third chair in an arbitration matter which upheld his client’s business decision to terminate a dealership operator.
Mr. Guerra earned his Juris Doctor from the Villanova University School of Law in Villanova, Pennsylvania, where he simultaneously earned a Master of Business Administration in 2004. He was a Villanova Achievement Scholarship and Public Interest Fellowship Scholarship recipient. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies from the University of Texas at Austin.
He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania state courts and the United States District Courts for the District of New Jersey and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
Prior to joining the Lavin firm, Mr. Guerra served as a judicial law clerk from 2005 to 2007 for the Honorable Lillian H. Ransom in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.
The Board of Directors has selected Mr. Guerra to serve on the firm’s Hiring and Diversity Committees. Mr. Guerra also serves as an executive council member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Minority Bar Committee.
Personal
Mr. Guerra is a member of the Washington Square Civic Association and recently spoke to students at Meredith Elementary in South Philadelphia about the benefits of working in the legal profession.
